ONE is a new effort to rally Americans -- ONE by ONE -- to fight global AIDS and extreme poverty. The ONE Campaign is engaging Americans everywhere we gather -- in churches and synagogues, on the internet and college campuses, at community meetings and concerts. ONE will be promoted with the help of a diverse coalition of faith-based and antipoverty groups, celebrity spokespeople as well as corporate partnerships and local ONE Campaign organizers. The campaign will show the steps people can take, ONE by ONE, to fight global AIDS and extreme poverty. Step ONE is signing the petition either online at theONEcampaign.org or offline in communities across America. The petition allows Americans to show our leaders that we want to do more to respond to this crisis.
We believe that ONE by ONE Americans will join the movement and speak with ONE voice to fight the emergency of AIDS and extreme poverty in Africa and the world's poorest countries. This is a time of desperate need, as well as tremendous hope. This is the time for us to be ONE.
Your voice DOES make a difference.
We believe that in the best American tradition of helping others help themselves, now is the time to join with other countries in an historic pact for compassion and justice to help the poorest people of the world overcome AIDS and extreme poverty.
We recognize that a pact including such measures as fair trade, debt relief, fighting corruption and targeting an additional one percent of the U.S. budget towards providing basic needs - education, health, clean water, food, and care for orphans - would transform the futures and hopes of an entire generation in the poorest countries.
We commit ourselves - ONE person, ONE voice, ONE vote at a time - to make a better, safer world for all.
